Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc seeks a PACU RN PRN to provide nursing care in a busy Ambulatory Surgical Center. Shifts begin as early as 05:30, with a closing shift until the last patient is discharged, typically around 4pm but may extend based on patient acuity.

Will work in a two-OR ASC handling 8–9 patients daily, with spinal anesthesia commonly used. Outpatients require attentive discharge teaching and functional ambulation post-recovery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Pennsylvania RN license.
• BLS & ACLS required.
• Minimum one year in pre-operative, post-operative or critical care/ emergency experience.
• Orthopaedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting.
• Assume total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and center policies.
• Monitor patients in preop and postop phases; assist with anesthesia care as directed.
• Provide discharge teaching for outpatients and ensure safe ambulatory transitions.

General Summary Of Duties

Assists in provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and centers policies.

• The center operates Monday through Friday with shifts starting as early as 0530, the closing shift stays until the last patient is discharged (on average 4pm, however can be longer depending on the patient acuity).
• We have two operating rooms and serve 8-9 patients per day, usually with only one surgeon.
• Seven Preop/ PACU bays are assigned to a patient for use in both phases of care, and the nursing staff adjust their assignments accordingly.
• The majority of patients receive spinal anesthesia in preop and during recovery require ambulation of 100 feet.
• Discharge teaching requires attention to detail as these are all outpatients.
