Job summary

First Horizon Bank is seeking an Licensed Relationship Banker to deliver exceptional client service and deepen relationships. You will proactively engage clients, recommend tailored banking solutions, open and service accounts, promote digital adoption, and partner with internal specialists to provide an integrated client experience.

You will grow the branch through consultative guidance while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree or military equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in retail banking or consultative relationship sales with proven results.
  • Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills; ability to tailor solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a client portfolio by deepening relationships and acquiring new clients.
  • Meet with clients in person and by phone to understand needs and tailor recommendations.
  • Understand clients’ financial situations and goals; deliver customized credit, deposits, investments and other products.
  • Open/serve consumer and small business accounts; support digital banking enrollment.
  • Originate and process credit requests; refer complex needs to partners and coordinate handoffs.
  • Drive growth through deposits, loans, investments and fee income.
  • Collaborate with Credit, Wealth, Treasury Management and other partners for integrated service.
  • Build pipeline through outreach, appointments and disciplined follow-up.
  • Educate clients on digital tools and financial wellness resources.

Summary

The Licensed Relationship Banker is a trusted advisor who delivers exceptional client service, deepens relationships, and grows the branch through consultative guidance. In this role, you proactively engage clients to understand their goals, recommend tailored banking and investment solutions, open and service accounts, support digital adoption, and partner with specialists. Working in line with local market dynamics, you apply knowledge of loans, deposits, investments, insurance, and other banking products to deliver an integrated, seamless client experience while maintaining operational excellence and compliance.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of clients by deepening existing relationships and acquiring new ones.
  • Proactively meet with clients in person and by phone to build lasting relationships, discover needs, and tailor product and service recommendations.
  • Thoroughly understand each client’s financial situation, goals, and needs.
  • Recommend and deliver customized solutions — including credit, deposits, investments, insurance, and other products — partnering with internal specialists.
  • Open and service consumer and small business accounts; support clients with digital banking enrollment and self-service tools for 24/7 access.
  • Originate and process consumer credit requests; refer complex or specialized needs (e.g., mortgage, wealth, small business) to the appropriate partner and coordinate warm handoffs.
  • Drive growth through deposits, loans, investments, and fee income.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners — including Credit, Treasury Management, Wealth, and specialty banking team partners — to deliver an integrated client experience.
  • Build pipeline through outreach, appointments, and disciplined follow-up.
  • Educate clients on digital tools and financial wellness resources to improve convenience and satisfaction.
  • Answer client inquiries about bank products, services, and policies.
  • Take ownership of client issues; resolve promptly and professionally, escalating when needed.
  • Stay informed on economic, legal, and market trends impacting clients.
  • Monitor and manage client portfolios for changes in financial status, product needs, and risk exposure.
  • Operate within established risk parameters; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., KYC/CIP, BSA/AML, Reg E/CC, Privacy, UDAAP, TILA/Reg Z as applicable), credit policies, and other internal policies; complete required training on time.
  • Participate in local community activities sponsored by the market.
  • Collaborate with branch associates to achieve shared sales, service, and operational goals; participate in training, coaching, and community engagement.
  • Model team-based collaboration and First Horizon values.

Note: This role does not process teller transactions

Licensing Requirements
  • Active FINRA Series 6, Series 63 registrations are required at time of hire.
  • Maintain all registrations in good standing, including completion of required continuing education.
  • Depending on market and duties, NMLS registration (for dwelling-secured lending activities) and/or a Notary commission may be required or preferred; confirm with hiring leader.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree or military equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in retail banking, financial services, or a consultative relationship sales role with a track record of achieving results.
  • Client-first mindset with strong communication, listening, and consultative problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence in presenting product knowledge and tailoring solutions to diverse client needs; ability to influence and educate clients on technology.
  • Ability to quickly learn bank products, services, and procedures; strong attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Proficiency with platform systems, CRM tools, and common office software.
  • Ability to work standard branch hours with potential Saturday hours depending on location; flexibility to support nearby branches as needed.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus based on market.

As part of the employment process for this position, you will have to meet the requirements of a background credit check. This position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements.
