Job summary

The Learning Lamp in North Huntington, PA seeks a PreK Lead Teacher to create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom. You will implement our Wonder of Learning program, guide daily activities, and support young children in early literacy and social skills.

The role requires an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or two years of related experience, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and willingness to complete required clearances.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or two years of experience with children
  • Willingness to complete required clearances and training including four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical and TB test
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend at waist and knees, sit on child-sized chairs and on the floor, stand and walk 7–8 hours per day

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate attendance (electronic and paper)
  • Know the number of children in care at all times
  • Interact with children at their level
  • Sit with children during meals
  • Keep children within sight and sound at all times
  • Complete State Incident Reports properly
  • Support each child's physical and emotional needs
  • Ensure adherence to state ratio requirements
  • Conduct attendance checks when moving children between areas
  • Assist with diapering and toileting
  • Communicate effectively with school personnel, children, and parents
  • Comply with policies and procedures and Goddard Emergency Procedures
  • Perform cleaning tasks as needed
  • Adhere to Goddard’s Behavior Policy & The Children’s Bill of Rights
  • Demonstrate skills to contribute to each child's development

The Goddard School® located at: 1050 Mills Drive North Huntingdon, PA 15642 is seeking a passionate Lead Teacher. At our School, we put our teachers first because they put our students first. Join us to create a nurturing environment for young children by implementing an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum using our proprietary Wonder of Learning® program. Lead daily activities, inspire young minds and collaborate with a supportive team.

What are the hours like?

  • Rotating shifts between 7:00am-6:00pm

  • Pay rate ranges from $16.00 per hour - $19.00 per hour, based on education and experience

What are the duties and responsibilities?

  • Ensure accurate electronic and paper attendance is always kept.
  • Know the number of children in your care at all times.
  • Interact closely with children at their level.
  • Sit with children when they are eating.
  • Ensure proper positioning when outside so that children remain within sight and sound at all times.
  • Ensure State Incident Reports are used when appropriate and are properly completed, signed, and filed.
  • Be aware of every child’s physical and emotional needs and adapt your interactions to best support.
  • Always keep children within sight and sound supervision.
  • Ensure that children are always within state ratio requirements.
  • Ensure that name-to-face attendance and counts are conducted when moving children outside of the classroom and at every threshold.
  • Change children’s diapers and/or assist in toileting.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children, and parents.
  • Comply with work policies and procedures per school trainings, Employee Handbook, Goddard QA, State, and The Department of Health.
  • Understand and be able to apply Goddard Emergency Procedures.
  • Perform minor cleaning responsibilities (e.g., spills, dusting, sweeping) immediately or during nap time.
  • Perform major cleaning during times when children are not present.
  • Understand and adhere to Goddard’s Behavior Policy & The Children’s Bill of Rights.
  • Faculty shall be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child's development.

What are the required qualifications?

  • An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
  • OR two years of previous experience with children, and this does not haveto be in a childcare center! Have you volunteered with children before? Are you a former or retired teacher? All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
  • Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to bend at the waist and knees frequently and as needed while caring for children.
  • Able to sit on and get up from a child sized chair frequently throughout the day.
  • Able to sit on and get up from the classroom floor frequently throughout the day.
  • Able to stand and walk for 7-8 hours per day.
