Job summary

City National Bank is seeking a Preferred Banking Relationship Manager in Irvine, CA to cultivate affluent client relationships through outbound and inbound sales efforts, leveraging COIs, referrals, and digital leads. You will collaborate with Middle Market, Specialty & Commercial Real Estate Banking teams to expand the client base.

The role requires a strong sales background within financial services, excellent communication skills, and relevant licenses or eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 7 years of direct sales experience.
  • Minimum 7 years in a financial institution.
  • Minimum 7 years of new accounts with business development experience.
  • Safe Act registration or eligibility to register.

Responsibilities

  • Outside Sales: source and originate new banking and wealth relationships with COIs and referrals.
  • Develops and manages Preferred Banking client relationships with owners and executives.
  • Manage existing clients and deepen relationships through cross-selling.
  • Participate in relationship reviews to identify opportunities and develop plans.
  • Track client financial information using performance metrics at individual and portfolio levels.
  • Leverage metrics to prospect for new opportunities and report performance.

PREFERRED BANKING RM

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Preferred Banking RM is responsible for cultivating and expanding the Bank's affluent and future high net worth personal banking relationships through outbound and inbound sales efforts, including, but not limited to: establishing relationships with centers of influence (COIs), developing internal and external client referrals, pursuing qualified digital marketing leads and other channels. This role works alongside dedicated and closely-aligned cross divisional partners throughout the enterprise including Middle Market, Specialty & Commercial Real Estate Banking through a collaborative partnership. Must be in good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and must be registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry"; or must be able to be registered under the Safe Act.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Outside Sales: Individually source and originate new banking and wealth relationships primarily through professional relationships and referrals (example: realtors, attorneys, CPAs, business managers, financial advisors) that fit within the banks overarching financial strategy
  • Develops and manages Preferred Banking client relationships with the owners, principals, executive managers and employees of Middle Market, Specialty & Commercial Real Estate Banking relationships
  • Manage existing clients and actively deepen client relationships through cross-selling efforts. Develop and maintain relationships within the internal CNB community to facilitate service issues and opportunities for clients and prospects
  • Participate in relationship reviews with other team members to identify and prioritize new opportunities with prospects or within existing client book, and jointly develop individualized plans to execute on those opportunities
  • Keep current on client’s financial information through the use of key performance metrics at the individual client and aggregate portfolio level.
  • Leverage key metrics to prospect for new opportunities, develop new sales tactics, and report on performance to clients and colleagues.
  • Responsible for tracking individual performance goals and results in a timely and accurate manner for reporting purposes.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of direct sales experience required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a financial institution required.
  • Minimum 7 years of new accounts with a strong focus on business development experience required
  • Must be in good standing under “The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008” (Safe Act) and must be registered/licensed with the “Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry”; or must be able to be registered under the Safe Act

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding of various phases of sales management, including planning, goal setting, project/time management and selling techniques.
  • Demonstrated outside sales abilities with affluent and high net-worth client segments
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and all products and services applicable to high net worth clients.
  • Superior knowledge of credit policies and procedures, and bank operations policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in technical skills particularly with excel and power point
  • CFP designation or equivalent training highly desirable
  • FINRA Series 7and 63 securities licenses preferred.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $78,970 - $126,140 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
