Job summary

Tuff Shed, Inc. is hiring at our Baltimore manufacturing facility for construction/laborer roles. You’ll work indoors every day, with all power tools and nail guns provided. Training is offered, and there are opportunities for advancement and monthly bonuses.

Responsibilities include reading directions, operating power tools, measuring with tape and speed square, fabricating components, painting, and maintaining tool safety. Physical lifting up to 50 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with basic carpentry and painting helpful.
• Ability to read measurements and diagrams.
• Comfort using tape measure and speed square.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow written, oral, or diagram directions.
• Safely operate power tools and maintain equipment.
• Accurately use tape measure and speed square on job sites.
• Fabricate and assemble components per cut sheets and drawings.
• Paint and finish parts per standards.
• Ensure tools are safe and properly maintained.
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages.

Duties Include

• Reads, understands, and executes directions given in writing, orally or in diagram form
• Operates power tools (multiple types of saws and drills, router, pneumatic nail guns, air compressed tools), and other equipment safely
• Utilizes a tape measure, working drawings, and speed square efficiently and accurately
• Performs fabrication of Tuff Shed products (cuts, trims, paints, and semi-assembles) according to cut sheets or engineer drawings or other instructions efficiently using lumber and materials according to policies and procedures
• Painting duties include applying proper amounts of paint, ensuring that appropriate side and edge coverage occurs and maintaining painting equipment and materials to Tuff Shed standards
• Ensures that completed sub-assembly is placed in appropriate bins for specific building assignment
• Makes certain that all power and pneumatic tools are operating correctly, safely, and within manufacturer specifications including properly maintaining and lubricating tools on a daily basis; immediately informs the Production Foreman whenever a tool is unsafe or is in need of repair
• Complies with Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements including maintaining a clean and organized work area each day from start to finish
• Informs the Production Foreman when inventory levels are low
• Able to regularly move up to 50 pounds for at least 100 feet; able to periodically lift more than 50 pounds for at least 100 feet, with the assistance of another member of the Tuff Shed production team

Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of the construction industry, basic carpentry skills, basic painting skills
• Team oriented mindset and work collaboratively with team members
• Ability to carry out instructions communicated in writing, orally, or in diagram form
• Ability to use basic arithmetic as well as the ability to read tape measure, working drawings and speed square
• Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, hammer, saw, drill, and other basic power tools preferred
• May be required to successfully complete Tuff Shed fork lift certification

Experience

• Requires experience with the Prefabrication function or similar
• Experience handling and operating power tools, preferred
• Experience utilizing a tape measure, speed square reading and interpreting working drawings, preferred

EDUCATION

• High school diploma OR equivalent
