DeAngelis Diamond is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead budgeting, estimating, and preconstruction activities across multiple projects. You will coordinate with clients, design teams, and operations to ensure winning strategies and accurate budgets.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and mastery of SOPs, with responsibilities spanning from early concept budgets to project turnover and subcontractor negotiations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in construction preconstruction or related field.
• Strong budgeting and estimating experience for complex projects.
• Excellent leadership and communication to guide teams.
• Ability to learn SOPs and apply them to winning work.
• Experience with client meetings and design-team coordination.
• Knowledge of bid processes, contracts, and subcontractor negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Assemble conceptual budgets early in the process.
• Manage preconstruction from start to finish across multiple projects.
• Lead preconstruction meetings with clients and design teams.
• Direct teams of estimators, PMs, and field leads during preconstruction.
• Identify constructability issues and resolve missing information.
• Collaborate with operations on schedules, staffing, and logistics.
• Support in estimating at budgeting milestones and reporting changes.

We are searching for an outstanding Preconstruction Manager to join our team. If you have 5 or more years of experience, a passion for construction, and an insane need and desire to be part of building great projects, then please read on!

What You'll Be Doing

• Become an indispensable part of the team tasked with winning new work and managing preconstruction by learning and applying DD’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Participate in Business Development activities to help secure new work.
• Learn clients’ goals and help them achieve them.
• Strategize with the DD team to develop a winning approach for each project.
• Assemble conceptual budgets early in the process based on limited information.
• Manage the preconstruction process from start to finish on multiple concurrent exercises.
• Lead precon meetings with clients and their design teams.
• Lead teams of estimators, PMs, supers, etc. during preconstruction.
• Become an expert on the project, invite the needed trades, identify constructability issues, and find conflicting or missing information that needs to be answered or qualified.
• Collaborate with DD Operations to develop project schedule, staffing, and logistic needs.
• Lead and assist in estimating efforts at the various budgeting milestones.
• Assemble complete and accurate budgets and report on changes in them at each stage.
• Negotiate and award subcontracts after a successful bid process.
• Assemble and turnover project information to operations to run the job and collaborate with the project manager to ensure a successful project.

• Knowledge of all types of bid processes, contracts, negotiations, and winning strategies for each.
• Ability to perform constructability reviews, identify risk, and know how to mitigate it in alignment with the strategized bid approach.
• Ability to lead and motivate other team members on group exercises.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Box, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, and OST.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
