The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western is seeking a Preconstruction Director for our Texas Building Division in Dallas, TX. The role leads the estimating team, reviews project plans, and guides bid strategy from conceptual through CD.

Strong leadership, communication skills, and a track record with large-scale projects are essential. You will coordinate with management, operations, and staff to develop comprehensive estimates, determine costs, and prepare bid packages for

Qualifications

• 7–15 years of estimating or construction management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of construction means, methods, costs and engineering principles.
• Estimating experience on large Commercial, Residential, Healthcare or Transportation projects.
• Ability to lead estimating teams for hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, requirements and specifications.
• Coordinate a team of estimators to develop large multidisciplinary estimates.
• Determine labor and equipment costs and review quantity takeoffs.
• Prepare bid packages and compare/subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Review quotes with the Project Management Team and lead responses to RFPs.
• Assist with post-bid buyouts and ensure alignment with project schedules.

Overview

We are currently seeking a Preconstruction Director for our Texas Building Division, in Dallas, TX.

The Preconstruction Manager will report to the Vice President of Estimating and work with the Chief Estimators and Preconstruction Directors/Lead Estimators. The Preconstruction Manager will support and work with management, operations and estimating staff in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, requirements and specifications.
• Have demonstrated leadership abilities to coordinate a team of estimators to develop a large multidisciplinary estimate.
• Determine labor and equipment costs.
• Review accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
• Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks.
• Understand project logistics and project schedule.
• Prepare bid packages. Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team.
• Prepare estimates at different levels of completion (conceptual, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)
• Assist with certain post-bid buyouts.
• Be able to lead responses to RFP’s
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

• 7-15 years of Estimating or Construction Management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principles
• Estimating experience with large Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Transportation projects
• Must be confident working with estimating teams of varying sizes, and be capable of estimating hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects
• Individual must be self-motivated, possess strong communication/interpersonal skills and be confident in his/her ability to develop and manage their assigned portion of the estimate
• Advanced computers skills with MS Office, Primavera P6
• Well organized, flexible, detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
• Prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands
• Effective presentation skills
• Excellent written and oral communicator.
