Job summary

Aerotek is hiring for a Contract to Hire role in Richmond, VA focused on assembling large window units and related components. You will use hand and power tools, measure accurately, and work in sub-assembly and general assembly areas to build, seal, and finish units made from glass, sheet metal, and steel frames.

You must excel at attention to detail, quality checks, and adapt to multiple stages of the production process while wearing protective gear.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-unit assembly in refrigeration, industrial or large-structure settings.
• Experience using hand and power tools and reading plans/measurements.
• Experience with construction management, installation or inspection activities.
• Familiarity troubleshooting mechanical or assembly issues on a production line.
• Demonstrated flexibility to support multiple areas as needed.
• Strong teamwork, reliability and meeting production goals.
• Comfort wearing protective gear (safety glasses, steel-toe boots, Tyvek).

Responsibilities

• Assemble window units and components using hand/power tools and mechanical techniques.
• Install metal brackets, fasteners, clips and other hardware.
• Seal windows with caulking, following procedures and standards.
• Test caulking and sealing for proper integrity.
• Paint ends and work with insulation materials as required.
• Wrap final units for protection during handling and shipment.
• Inspect units to identify and correct assembly flaws.
• Handle large glass, sheet metal and steel frames on a production line.
• Stand/walk during 8-hour shift and support sub-assembly tasks as needed.
• Read blueprints and use tape measures to ensure parts meet specs.
