Job summary

Floor Coverings International of Downtown Chicago is seeking a skilled Tile Installer to join our team on an ongoing sub-contractor basis for residential and commercial projects across Downtown Chicago and surrounding neighborhoods.

The ideal candidate has proven tile installation experience, strong attention to detail, ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to safety and customer service; flexibility and reliable payments are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tile Installer or similar role in Chicago buildings.
• Familiarity with materials, methods, and tools involved in tile installation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and layout plans.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Physical stamina and ability to handle heavy materials and equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Tile installation on floors, walls, ceilings, countertops, and other surfaces according to plans.
• Surface preparation including cleaning, leveling, and waterproofing.
• Cutting and shaping tiles using tile cutters and saws.
• Grouting and sealing to prevent water damage and ensure durability.
• Design consultation with clients and designers to match patterns and colors.
• Quality assurance inspections of finished work.
• Maintenance and repair of existing tile installations.
• Follow safety protocols and proper handling of tools and materials.
