Job summary

Steel & O’Brien Manufacturing in Arcade, NY is seeking a Quality Technician to ensure stainless steel components meet exacting standards. You’ll work with Production and Engineering to identify issues, investigate causes, and drive process improvements.

You’ll perform first article, in-process, and final inspections, program and operate a CMM, read drawings and GD&T, and document results while collaborating across teams to resolve quality concerns.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience inspecting stainless steel components and assemblies.
• Experience programming and operating a CMM.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Familiarity with weld inspection and surface finish requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication of findings.

Responsibilities

• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated stainless steel components and assemblies.
• Inspect welds, surface finishes, and dimensions against drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Program and operate a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for dimensional inspections.
• Read engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
• Record inspection results, maintain quality documentation, and report nonconformances.
• Help investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve concerns and improve quality.
