Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT, is seeking an Optics Technician for high-speed precision polishing on the 3rd shift. You will program, set up, and operate polishing equipment to craft ultra-precision optical components used in metrology systems.

Responsibilities include measuring and inspecting parts with precision tools, selecting tooling, mixing compounds per formulas, and contributing to continuous improvement while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0-3 years of hands-on production manufacturing/operations experience or knowledge of mechanics, processes, or related software.
• Strong math aptitude and ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail for handling delicate optical components.
• Collaborative team player with problem-solving focus and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods; safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate high-speed polishing equipment per lens specifications.
• Mount and calibrate tooling and fixtures using adhesives, friction, or vacuum.
• Polish optics to required specifications and verify with precision measurement tools.
• Inspect parts with precision tooling and software; adjust as needed for quality.
• Maintain documentation and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow prescribed safety rules and maintain clean work environment.
