Job summary

AES Manufacturing in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Metal Fabricator to turn drawings and raw material into precise parts and subassemblies. You will measure, lay out, cut, drill, grind, form, fit, and inspect metal components to ensure dimensional accuracy.

You will read engineering drawings, operate band saws, drill presses, and other fabrication equipment, maintain tools, and work safely. Opportunities exist to grow into higher-skill roles through cross-training and hands-on practice.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of metal fabrication experience preferred, or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification is a plus.
• Welding experience is useful but not required for every fabrication assignment.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand engineering drawings, part lists, work orders, travelers, and fabrication specifications.
• Lay out work and use jigs or fixtures to fabricate parts accurately.
• Cut, drill, shear, notch, grind, bend, roll, shape, and finish metal parts using approved equipment and tools.
• Operate equipment such as band saws, drill presses, shears, grinders, brakes, pipe/tube benders, and other fabrication equipment after training.
• Select and verify correct material, thickness, and part quantities before beginning work.
• Measure and inspect parts, identify nonconformance, and correct or rework parts when appropriate.
• Support downstream welding, assembly, laser, and forming operations by producing accurate parts on time.
• Maintain tools, fixtures, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Work independently while communicating problems before they create scrap or delays.
