Job summary

Atlas Copco–Quincy Compressor in Quincy, MA is seeking a Machinist to learn to set up, operate and run production on a variety of machining centers with close tolerances. You will read blueprints, process sheets, and use CMM reports to adjust tooling and machining parameters.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, maintain safety, and perform maintenance. The role requires a high school diploma, basic mechanical skills, ability to lift 50 lbs, and experience with power lifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Basic mechanical background with ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and understand operator manuals and training materials.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs and perform related physical tasks.
• Must be able to operate a power lift truck safely.
• Experience reading blueprints and process sheets for machining specs.
• Knowledge of CMM interpretation and CNC programming basics.
• Understanding feeds, speeds, fixture offsets and tool offsets.
• Ability to write legibly and complete PPE documentation.

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up, operate and run production on machining centers with close tolerances.
• Read blueprints and process sheets for product specifications, fixtures, feeds, speeds and tools.
• Position and secure work pieces on holding devices using clamps and wrenches.
• Maintain quality craftsmanship at all times.
• Work safely and keep the area clean and hazard-free.
• Suggest improvements to methods and skills.
• Plan weekly production goals and complete required paperwork.
• Contribute to cost reduction and problem-solving in production.
• Perform machine maintenance procedures as needed.
• Operate power lift truck safely.
• Participate in continuous improvement and EH&S programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Machine Shop Supervisor.
