Colonial Group is seeking a Hot Inspector to perform inspection of hot in-process forgings to ensure the forging procedure is followed correctly. You will use measurement instruments to verify dimensions and ensure conformance to blueprints and travelers.

This role requires the ability to read blueprints, operate a forklift, and collaborate with quality control, press leads, and operators to drive continuous improvement and maintain safety and productivity.

Competenze

• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be a certified forklift operator.

• Inspect hot forgings for fill and any visible defects including metal flow defects.
• Inspect down-size (die closure) as per the AQS plan.
• Verify the surface finish, stock location and grain direction.
• Use various measurement instruments to verify the dimensions of forged parts.
• Compare inspection data with the required tolerances based on blueprints, travelers, and any accompanying documents.
• Actively communicate with quality control personnel, press leads, and press operators to ensure quality forgings.
• Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
• Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
• Follow and respect supervisor’s direction.
• Ensure quality parts to meet customers’ and APP’s requirements.
• Work at an acceptable level of productivity.
• Maintain a non-combative, positive work attitude.
• Uphold safe and honest work habits and practices.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• In an effort to achieve continuous improvement, APP expects a willingness from employees to be cross-trained on multiple operations.
• Ensure adherence to APP’s policies and procedures, including our code of conduct and ethics policy, product safety, employee safety and cultural beliefs.
• Ensure adherence to all process specifications.
• Support the Plant quality system goals / improvements & productivity goals / improvements within the scope of the job.
• Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by the department manager.

Skill Requirements:

• Some high school, vocational school, or similar work experience preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be a certified forklift operator.

This position may require access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Compensation: $20.00 - $24.73 an hour. This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
