Job summary

Watson Custom Tanks in Springfield, MO, is seeking a Class B Grinder Operator (Stainless Steel Tanks). You will grind, finish, and repair welded vessel components to exact cosmetic and quality standards in a fast-growing stainless steel fabrication team.

Shift is Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30pm; pay is $26-28/hour. The role requires PT certification, a detail-driven mindset, and a team-oriented approach to maintain grinding equipment and ensure safe, quality results.

Qualifications

• P.T. Certified required.

Responsibilities

• Precision grind head-to-shell seams and blended welds (up to 180 grit / 30 Ra max).
• Remove arc marks, gouges, digs, lumps, and hook marks; restore cosmetic and structural integrity.
• Perform surface prep, seam blending, and post-treatment repairs (including re-dye checks).
• Grind internal/external cylindrical, tapered, flat, conical surfaces; select wheels, speeds, feeds, and fixtures.
• Complete QC documentation (traveler lines), support P.T. and repair work as needed.
• Work safely with hand tools, lifts/hoists, and occasionally in confined spaces; follow PPE and safety procedures
