Job summary

Candidate should have a High School diploma or GED, familiarity with grinding tools, and 6–12 months of grinding experience preferred. The position is on-site in Illinois, with standard manufacturing shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of grinding machines and tools.
  • 6–12 months grinding experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills in arithmetic and algebra.
  • Familiar with drawings and precision measuring instruments.
  • Active listener who can absorb trainer instructions.
  • Ability to recognize when there is an issue with machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate finish grinding machines.
  • Select speeds and feeds according to material to achieve optimum results.
  • Choose appropriate grinding wheels within a limited range.
  • Dress wheels.
  • Check dimensions and tolerances.
  • Make adjustments to maintain standards.
  • Detect faulty operation or defective materials and report to supervisor.
  • Assist in dismantling machines and moving parts for repair with hand tools and hoists.
  • Keep machines clean and maintain production records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
