Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a detail-oriented proofreader/copyeditor to ensure accuracy across product, copy and layout. You will verify spelling, grammar, typography, and printing specifications, correcting mechanical errors and improving overall quality.

Collaborating with translators and prepress staff, you will test web templates, maintain databases, and support IT-driven e-commerce tools while providing clear documentation and procedures.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent in English studies or journalism.
• Six to twelve months' related experience.
• Basic computer skills (internet, email, Excel, Word).
• Excellent communication skills, tact and professionalism.
• Strong spelling and grammar in English.
• Ability to read/write and comprehend work instructions and manuals.
• Detail oriented and willing to improve; able to work with others.
• Ability to handle inquiries and maintain attendance, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Proofreads products through all stages to ensure accuracy against provided materials.
• Verifies copy and layout for spelling, grammar, typeface, size/style, line spacing, and printing specs.
• Copyedits copy and layouts for readability, consistency, and automation conformity.
• Maintains high accuracy in daily work and knowledge of prepress terminology.
• Tests web-based templates and IT programming used for e-commerce sites.
• Maintains integrity of databases used to drive tag setting.
• Assists in maintaining customer websites and creates customer proofs.
• Communicates with internal/external customers via email.
