Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science completed before start.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus.
• Five years of experience designing/deploying motion control systems for manufacturing.
• Experience with precision engineering concepts like error budgeting and metrology.
• Familiarity with linear motors, high-res encoders, ultra-low friction bearings and high-speed servo control.
• Experience with CNC/advanced motion systems (DeltaTau, Newport, PI, Aerotech).
• Electrical design and documentation using ePlan or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Embedded software architecture and development (C/C++, .NET C#, Structured Text, TwinCAT, LabVIEW).

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a Physical Science (completed and verified prior to start)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Possess a Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Five years of experience designing and/or deploying advanced motion control systems for manufacturing applications
• Experience with precision engineering concepts such as error budgeting, ultra-precision metrology, error compensation
• Familiarity with linear motors, high-resolution encoders, ultra-low friction bearing systems, high- speed servo control
• Significant experience with CNC or advanced motion control systems such as DeltaTau, Newport, Physik Instrumente (PI), Polaris, Aerotech
• Electrical system design & documentation using electrical drawing software (ePlan, AutoCAD Electrical)
• Embedded software architecture and development (e.g. C/C++, .NET C#, Structured Text, TwinCAT, Labview)

Work location

• Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
