Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking a Precision Coating Intern for our Rhinelander, Wisconsin plant for the Summer of 2027. This position supports day-to-day technical and lab activities in a paper manufacturing environment, offering hands-on experience in a team-focused setting.

Candidates should be enrolled in a related degree, authorized to work in the United States full-time, and able to relocate to Rhinelander for the summer. Housing stipend available to assist relocation.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Enrolled in a Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related degree program.
• Willing to relocate to Rhinelander, WI for Summer 2027; student housing or housing stipend available.
• Ability to work full-time for the duration of the internship.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements for each paper grade.
• Support continuous improvement projects.
• Support technical (product development and quality) projects.
• Data mining and analysis.
• Assist in troubleshooting process/quality issues.
• Work with lab equipment on test method development and statistical analysis of quality results.
• Support technical lab project work.
