Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Newington, NH, is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our 2nd shift team on-site, producing high-tolerance nuclear components. You’ll read drawings, set up tools, and operate precision machines, ensuring parts meet tight specifications and safety standards.

You will collaborate with engineers and programmers to optimize processes, conduct in-process inspections, and uphold 5S and lean manufacturing practices in a union shop environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of machinist experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated operational proficiency in CNC machining.
  • Knowledge of CNC G-code programming and machine operations.
  • 3+ years of experience with tooling, fixtures, machine setup, and process optimization to produce quality machined components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
  • Working knowledge of 5S principles and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Machine precision components that meet stringent nuclear quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate a variety of metal-removing and metal-forming machines within the manufacturing department.
  • Set up machine tools, components, and castings according to engineering drawings and print specifications, including close-tolerance work.
  • Read and interpret drawings, sketches, blueprints, and written or verbal instructions in compliance with PP-09-01.
  • Select and use appropriate measuring instruments, hand tools, fixtures, jigs, and tooling; fabricate tooling.
  • Perform in-process inspections and verify that you meet all quality and dimensional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot machining operations and make limited program modifications when qualified.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment by following 5S principles, housekeeping standards, safety requirements, and criticality procedures.

Machinist

Location: Newington, NH, 100% Onsite

Shift: 2nd Shift (3:30 PM – Midnight)

Pay Range: $35.00–$40.00/hour (based on qualifications)

Working with some of the most advanced machining equipment in the industry, you'll apply your technical expertise to manufacture complex, high-tolerance components. You'll collaborate with engineers, CNC programmers, and fellow machinists to improve machining processes, troubleshoot production challenges, and ensure every part meets rigorous design, quality, and regulatory standards.

You will report to the Machine Shop Supervisor and be based on-site in Newington, NH.
