Qualifications

• 4–10 years of trade school/experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.
• Ability to exert between 10 and 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Quality oriented and safety conscious.
• Good attendance and reliability.
• Advanced training through in-house or external methods.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Follow sequence of operations on routers and set-up sheets.
• Select and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines (mills, lathes, saws).
• Set controls for feeds, speeds, coolant flow, and depth of cut; input/edit programs as needed.
• Observe machine operations to detect malfunctions and adjust settings accordingly.
• Set up and operate machines on first piece run to verify accuracy.
• Verify dimensions and alignment with measuring instruments (micrometers, height gauges, gauges).
• Coordinate with engineers and team leaders to resolve machining problems.
