Job summary

Truck Bodies & Equipment International (TBEI) seeks a Laser Machine Operator to set up, program, and run CNC laser cutting of steel components for truck bodies and hoists. You will follow blueprints, monitor tool wear, and ensure parts meet tolerances while adhering to safety and Lean/5S principles.

This hands-on role supports quality and efficiency in a manufacturing environment, with physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs and use of PPE.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines according to work orders, blueprints, and part drawings.
• Load and unload sheet metal, steel plates, and other raw materials using overhead cranes, jib booms, or manual handling.
• Monitor machine performance, make necessary adjustments, and verify part dimensions using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
• Perform part nesting, material utilization, and minor programming edits at the machine as needed.
• Inspect finished parts for quality, ensuring cut edges meet tolerances and finish standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of production runs, material usage, and quality checks.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on laser equipment.
• Keep work area organized and clean in accordance with 5S and continuous improvement practices.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or material issues to supervision promptly.
• Assist with cross-training and support other Fabrication processes when required.
• Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and company procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
