Job summary

Nordson PPS is seeking an experienced CNC Grinder Operator to set up and run grinding machines, ensuring external surfaces meet blueprint specifications. You will read blueprints, select grinding wheels, and dress wheels as needed to achieve precise tolerances.

Responsibilities include mounting wheels, positioning stock, controlling stroke and feed, and verifying tolerances with precision measuring tools. Team collaboration is essential for quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Reads blueprint for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground, and determines what grinding wheel to be used.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions and blueprints, plus follow verbal work instructions.
• Ability to work within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprint for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground, and determines what grinding wheel to be used.
• Mounts wheel on spindle using a hoist, where applicable.
• Dresses wheel to specifications if required.
• Position wheel to location for stock removal.
• Sets up machine to control length of stroke and pattern.
• Lifts and positions work piece and secures work piece on magnetic chuck.
• Starts machine and activates controls to feed wheel against work piece.
• Verifies dimensions of finished work piece for conformance to specifications.
• Changes worn grinding wheel.
• Determines the order of grinding operations when multiple operations are to be done.
• Performs complex dressing of grinding wheels to accomplish blueprint specifications.
