Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a skilled Machine Shop Quality Inspector in Mukilteo, WA for a full-time on-site role. You will program Hexagon CMMs using PC-DMIS, perform precision inspections, and document nonconformances to ensure components meet aerospace and defense standards.

The role requires GD&T proficiency, 3+ years of CMM programming experience, and U.S. person status. Collaboration with quality, engineering, and machining teams is essential to drive inspection excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Three or more years of experience programming Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) using PC-DMIS.
• Experience working within AS9100 or equivalent quality systems.
• U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.

Responsibilities

• Programs Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and Romer Arm equipment using PC-DMIS software and performs associated inspections.
• Develops part setup plans to support accurate and efficient CMM inspections.
• Performs dimensional inspections of machined components using metrology equipment and established quality standards.
• Executes AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and related documentation.
• Verifies product compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
• Documents and communicates nonconformances identified during inspection activities.
• Trains inspectors on the execution of CMM inspection programs.
• Collaborates with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to address inspection and quality issues.
• Supports additional quality assurance activities as assigned.
