Job summary

North Shore Steel is seeking a skilled Track Torch Operator - Beveler to produce precision beveled plate components using portable track torch equipment and oxy-fuel cutting processes. You will interpret blueprints, adjust cutting parameters, and ensure adherence to exact customer specifications while maintaining safety and productivity.

The role requires strong bevel geometry knowledge, experience with thick plate materials, and the ability to work independently to deliver right-first-time

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years operating oxy-fuel beveling or plate-processing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Strong understanding of bevel geometry and weld prep requirements.
• Experience with thick plate materials and maintaining quality standards.
• Proficiency in shop mathematics: fractions, decimals, angles.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate portable track torch beveling equipment for production runs.
• Lay out steel plate and position bevel cutting operations.
• Verify material grade, thickness, dimensions, and job requirements.
• Ensure consumables, gases, tips, and equipment components are available and functioning.
• Monitor cutting operations and adjust parameters to maintain quality and productivity.
• Coordinate with material handlers and crane operators for safe loading/unloading.
