Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Starts power supply to produce electric current.
• Strikes arc and deposits metal from electrode to workpiece.
• Guides electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion.
• Welds in flat, horizontal or vertical positions.
• Examines weld for bead size and specifications.
• Cleans or degreases weld joint or workpiece.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
• Preheats workpiece as needed.
• Positions and clamps workpieces or assembles them in jig/fixture.
• Tacks assemblies together.
