Job summary

viaPhoton is hiring a hands-on technician to build and maintain custom automation equipment used in AI infrastructure, data centers, and 5G networks. You will diagnose issues, repair parts, and calibrate precision systems to keep production running smoothly.

The role requires 1–2 years of technical experience, a related engineering degree is a plus, and you’ll work onsite in Naperville, IL. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or related field)
• 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a technical/engineering environment
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and software engineering disciplines
• Familiar with diagnostic tools: multimeters, calipers, feeler gauges, microscopes
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and convey findings clearly

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble custom automation equipment from the ground up (mechanical, electrical, optical)
• Diagnose and repair equipment issues hands-on, replacing parts and recalibrating sensors
• Calibrate and maintain equipment within precise tolerances using measurement tools
• Work across hardware domains including cameras, lenses, machined parts, electronics, and 3D-printed parts
• Collaborate with engineers and translate floor observations into actionable diagnostics
