Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Precertification Specialist to obtain pre-certification for outpatient and office procedures and to schedule all procedures. You will assist patients with questions regarding insurance or eligibility and communicate effectively with physicians and staff.

You will contact third party payers in a timely fashion to provide notification of a member's need for procedures and ensure smooth coordination of care across departments.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency required.
  • Two years clerical experience required.
  • Experience by previous training or certification from an approved Nursing Assistant Program preferred.

To schedule all procedures and to precertify. Assists patients with questions regarding insurance or eligibility and communicates effectively and efficiently with physicians and staff. Responsible for contacting third party payers in a timely fashion and provide notification of a member's need for procedures. **Education / Experience**:High School diploma or equivalency required. Two years clerical experience required. Experience by previous training or certification from an approved Nursing Assistant Program preferred. Experience in healthcare services is preferred.**License / Certification**: None**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: • Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort. • Ability to use accurate spelling and proper grammar. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Typing, Computer and Telephone skills. • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records. • Ability to communicate and understand medical terminology. • Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency. • Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization. • Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients. • Ability to coordinate task and work within time constraints.**Working Conditions/Physical Requirements**:Position requires sitting for 80% of the workday and mobility 20% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
