Job summary

PDM Precast, Inc. in Des Moines, IA invites an Estimating Intern to work closely with our estimating management team.

The internship provides exposure to the basics of estimating and sales support within our precast construction environment. You will attend weekly sales meetings, learn estimating software, perform quantity takeoffs, review drawings and specs, and assist with vendor pricing and bid activities under supervision.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Pursuing a 4-year degree in construction or business.

Responsibilities

• Attend weekly sales meeting and take meeting minutes
• Perform quantities take offs
• Learn estimating software and how to utilize
• Understand the long range production schedule on how that ties to sales effort
• Become familiar with "Plan Rooms" and provide bidding opportunities
• Learn the sales order process and perform as necessary
• Understand how to navigate drawings and specs as it relates to our business
• Manage outside vendor pricing efforts
• Perform bid running duties as required
