Job summary

Indianspring of Oakley in Cincinnati, OH, is seeking a team member for the Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP). This unlicensed role supports the nursing department during the pre-training phase.

Compensation starts at $14.00 per hour during training, with pay increases upon successful completion of the NAT training and required clinical work. After licensure, the role advances to a Nurse Aide in Training (NAT) with increased responsibilities.

Qualifications

• NATCEP-eligible trainee in the NAT program.
• Understanding of nursing assistance responsibilities in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Answer call lights.
• Pass ice and water to patients and assist hydration needs.
• Make patient beds and assist with laundry and linen care.
• Stock linen closets and maintain infection control standards.
• Assist with dining room setup and meal service prep.
• Deliver meals/trays and assist with room tray delivery.
• Provide one-on-one visits/companionship to patients.
• Perform non-direct care tasks as directed by nurse or unit manager.

Description

This position is an unlicensed team member that works in the nursing department prior to the completion of the nurse aide training program.

PAY: $14.00 an hourwhile in training with pay increasing upon training completion

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:

• The team member during this "prior to training" period, can't perform any direct/physical patient care
• The position is part of the Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP)
• Once this team member completes the nurse aide classes and required clinical work, the team member is considered a Nurse Aide in Training (NAT).
• The facility may not use any individual working in the facility as a nurse aide for more than 4 months under the Pre-T or NAT positions. The team member must pass the licensure test to become a STNA during this time period. If the team member fails to pass the licensure test in the 4 month period, they either have to be terminated or be moved to a non-nursing position

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Answer call lights
• Pass ice and water to patients between meals. Assist with hydration cart and HS snack pass
• Assist with making patient beds
• Assist with laundry portion of STNA job:
• Put away patient's clean personal laundry.
• Stock the clean linen closets following proper infection control techniques
• Clean and organize patient drawers under the direction of patient/responsible party
• Empty soiled utility containers in outside trash
• Mark personal items (i.e. toothbrush, denture cups, toothpaste, etc...) to prevent cross contamination
• Set dining room tables (linens and silver ware) in prep for meal service
• Meal Service - team member is not permitted to feed any patient
• Passing trays and drinks to residents in dining room
• Delivering room trays to patients room
• Perform one on one visits/companionship with patients
• Complete any other non-direct care task assigned by nurse or unit manager
• Assist with activities if no other nursing related activities are needed
