Job summary

U.S. Waffle Company is seeking a production lead to build a safety‑driven, quality‑minded team on the production line. You will ensure SQF, GMPs, SOPs and HACCP compliance, meet quality standards, and optimize labor use to maximize efficiency.

Weekend availability and strong communication are required to coordinate with QA and leadership. You will drive continuous improvement on the line, supervise adherence to policy, and support changeovers and line readiness to deliver consistent product

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a production team in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, SOPs and HACCP principles is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or overtime as needed.

  • Build and train a well‑drilled team focused on safety, quality, efficiency and company success.

  • Ensure breaks and lunches align with time‑clock policy while upholding safety.
  • Adhere to GMPs; keep personal items out of production areas and stored in breakroom.

  • Work with QA to maintain SQF readiness and resolve quality concerns.
  • Use labor resources efficiently to minimize waste and control labor costs.
  • Provide outstanding service to partners and meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe production floor and ensure all ingredients are used correctly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for building a well-trained team which is passionate about safety, quality, efficiency, and company success
  • Report to work as scheduled every day, and demonstrate GREAT attendance
  • Observe standards for breaks, and lunches based on posted time-clock policy
  • Treat all coworkers with dignity and respect
  • Provide and accept constructive feedback
  • Adhere to GMP’s including, not having any personal items stored in production desk, clipboards, or any other company provided equipment. Personal items must remain in the breakroom and must never be taken anywhere near the production areas.
  • Teamwork - Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests; supports everyone's efforts to succeed; maintains a positive attitude; generates ideas and suggestions that improve the team’s performance, the efficiency of the process or the quality of the products
  • Observe all expectations for quality, and safety
  • Meet or exceed company expectations for production performance to maximize sales
  • Examine product for defects and disposition accordingly
  • Knowledge of SQF, GMP’s, SOP’s, and HACCP, and other food process sanitation requirements.
  • Report any/all food safety or food quality issues immediately to supervision or QA.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by production lead or other leadership
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Assist production lead with changeovers as required (including moving materials, equipment, etc).
  • Stage pre-scale area with all required ingredient bins in the proper order
  • Verify with mixer that correct ingredients are being used
  • Accurately mix ingredients based on pre-scale weigh sheet for each batch
  • Ensure all ingredient bins all full at start and end of shift
  • Use pallet jack to move ingredient pallets to pre-scale area
  • Ensure pre-scale totes are ready prior to mixer needing them
  • Maintain a clean work environment including pre-scale area to freezer entrance
  • Place empty ingredient bags in cardboard baler
  • Perform related duties as assigned by Lead Mixer or other leadership
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ensure all ingredients are brushed/wiped and inspected before being used.
  • Properly utilize labor resources to improve efficiency, minimize labor expense and reduce waste
  • Rework all product as needed, do not waste product
  • Notify production lead of any waste issues and/or machine malfunctions
  • Clean up line continuously throughout shift
  • Able to work extended hours, available for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to our partners
  • Implement actions as needed to prevent food safety and food quality issues
  • Coordinate with QA to ensure excellent quality is being produced
  • Ensure customer specifications are being met through evaluation and immediate reaction
  • Monitor and ensure that all GMP’s, SOP’s, and HACCP are met at all times
  • Ensure Production Floor is SQF ready EVERYDAY

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work weekends when needed
  • Basic mathematical skills

*This position is responsible for ensuring that food safety is not compromised while meeting the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing and are responsible to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Physical and Safety Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and all other food safety requirements
  • Complies with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) requirements

Reports any food safety problems or potentially unsafe practices/conditions to lead or supervisor

  • Constant walking and standing on hard concrete service
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, lifting and climbing
  • Position will require working in very hot and cold conditions
  • Other conditions include flour dust, wet floors, occasional smoke and fumes if product burns
