Auburn Community Hospital in Auburn, NY is seeking a Part Time Pre/Post RN for the Interventional Radiology/Cath Lab. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care during shift care for patients undergoing IR procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
• Current license to practice in New York State.
• BCLS and ACLS required.
• Cath lab/IR experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical assessment of patient and establish priorities by age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Maintain technical skills with equipment in critical care units (cardiac monitors, respirators, hemodynamic monitors).
• Identify normal/abnormal cardiac activity and monitor rhythm; provide interventions.
• Identify abnormal hemodynamic parameters and respond appropriately.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Cath/IR equipment and sterile technique during procedures.
• Provide care to patients receiving Moderate Sedation/Analgesia.
• Coordinate activities and supervise non-licensed staff as needed.
• Administer medications, emergency meds, and IV drips across multiple pumps.
• Obtain and maintain hemostasis at access sites and transfer emergent patients if needed.
• Assist EMS with patient transfer and data collection for NYSDOH/ACC Registry.

The Pre/Post RN is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation coordination, observation and evaluation of nursing care function and performance relating to nursing team, concerned with patient care, treatment, safety and comfort during assigned shift . Has and is competent in Emergency and surgical procedure skills to perform procedures and maintain safe environment for the patient. Provides education, support and Cath Lab/IR procedure competencies to nursing and imaging staff.

• Perform a physical assessment of the patient with appropriate follow-up intervention and establish priorities according to the patient's age, symptoms and psychosocial needs.
• Maintains technical skills with the equipment utilized in the critical care units, i.e. cardiac monitors, respirators, hemodynamic monitors.
• Identify normal and abnormal cardio electrical activity of the heart for any ICU, CCU, or telemetry patients. Ability to provide appropriate intervention after proper identification of the cardiac rhythm. Monitors EKG testing.
• Identifies normal and abnormal hemodynamic parameters and provides appropriate intervention.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Cath/ IR equipment following policy and possesses knowledge of the effects of anesthetic agents.
• Provides care to the patient receiving Moderate Sedation/ Analgesia (conscious sedation)
• Acts as a coordinator of activities, resource person to peers and supervisor of non-licensed personnel.
• Competent in the Medication Nurse role and preparing medications, emergency medications, and IV drip medications with utilizing multiple IV pumps
• Competent in obtaining and maintaining hemostasis in both the wrists and groin access locations manually and with the hemostasis closure devices
• Able to assist in the transferring of emergent patients to another facility and assist the EMS providers in securing the patient for transfer
• Participate and assist in the collection of the necessary data for New York State Dept of Health and American College of Cardiology Registry requirements.
• Is competent in aseptic and sterile techniques for procedures. Knowledge of surgical instruments used in device implants. Maintains sterile technique in the field during procedures.

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current license to practice in New York State. BCLS and ACLS required. Previous Cath lab/IR experience desirable. Procedural nursing experience preferred.
