Job summary

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is seeking a registered nurse for perioperative services to provide direct patient care in the surgical suite and related areas. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, and collaboration with an interprofessional team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

The position requires a Nursing Diploma/Associate's degree and RN licensure, with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Qualifications

• PACU, ED or ICU experience preferred.
• Nursing diploma or associate degree required.
• RN licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care; educates patients on post-treatment care and medications.
• Participates in patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
• Assess/monitor physical, psychosocial, emotional needs and patient preferences; address barriers to involvement in care.
• Safety-sensitive position; maintain alertness and safe practices at all times.

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The Perioperative Services staff at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital provide excellent Surgical Care by partnering with an extraordinary team of physicians and health care professionals. They are able to offer the comforts of a small community hospital. combined with the resources of the world renowned BJC HeathCare System and Washington University Medical School. Our highly educated and dedicated staff continually strive to improve the health of the people and communities they serve

Additional Information About The Role

• 4 9 hour shifts
• 6AM-3:30PM

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
