Job summary

Kanawha County Public Schools seeks an Elementary School Teacher for Ruthlawn Elementary to deliver instruction aligned with WV content standards and district objectives.

The teacher will plan and implement a standards-based curriculum, utilize technology, collaborate with special education staff, and engage students, families, and peers to promote achievement and school improvement. Duties include supervising activities and participating in field trips as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specified grade levels.
• Criminal background check conducted per WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; meet WV Code §18A-3-2a requirements.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by KCSBOE.

SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310 and KCS G48A.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide appropriate instruction to elementary students and insure that the students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level.

• Responsible for planning and implementing Kanawha County Schools' standards-based curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.

• Responsible for planning and implementing collaborative model with special education students and teachers.

• Be accountable for individual student achievement.
• Responsible for planning and implementing personalized learning for all students.
• Strong working/communication skills with students, parents and peers.
• Willing to implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement.
• Responsible for maintaining classroom control.
• Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal.
