Job summary

Bronx House in New York is seeking a PKA Teacher Assistant to support our Pre-k For All program in partnership with the NYC Department of Education. This full-time role provides an opportunity to contribute to a warm, nurturing classroom where young children can grow academically and socially.

The Teacher Assistant will help the Head Teacher plan activities, supervise students, maintain records, and engage families in their children's learning.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (preferred), or CDA or equivalent certification in Early Childhood Education or related field, or a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of classroom experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Applications, Video Conferencing Applications (Google Meets, Zoom and Google Classroom).

Responsibilities

• Support Head Teacher to make classrooms warm, welcoming and effective in helping children meet development and academic goals.
• Assist families to engage in their children's education.
• Assist in gathering student observation data and collaborate in Parent Teacher conferences.
• Provide active supervision and maintain educational records.
• Attend required activities, events and professional development.
