Job summary

Charter Schools USA is seeking a dedicated Pre-K Aide to assist the classroom teacher and help manage young learners. You will support daily activities, supervise play, and help prepare instructional materials while upholding school policies and confidentiality.

You will engage with students with care, participate in staff trainings, and contribute to a safe, supportive classroom environment that fosters growth and learning for every child.

Qualifications

  • High School degree, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Background check including criminal and employment.
  • Experience with children, preferably with disabilities.
  • In the process of preparing to supervise young children.
  • Alternatives to requirements may be considered by CSUSA.
  • Commitment to company values.

  • May perform other duties assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing the daily program under teacher supervision.
  • Prepare learning environments, centers, and materials for activities.
  • Work with students individually or in small groups to review instruction.
  • Supervise outdoor playground activities.
  • Help with housekeeping tasks and clerical duties.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Operate instructional equipment and follow directions from head teacher.
  • Promote confidentiality and professional collaboration with staff.

As a Pre-K Aide, you will be responsible for assisting a classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the children. This allows teachers more time to focus on the educational needs of students. The Teacher's Aide must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school's educational philosophy.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies for students' daily activities.
  • Work individually or in small groups with students to review classroom instruction, listen to reading groups, or assist answering questions.
  • Supervise outside playground activities.
  • Help with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways.
  • Perform clerical tasks.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences, including in-service training as may be required by the district.
  • Operate and care for instructional equipment used in the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
  • Follow directions given by head teacher or immediate supervisor.

Student Management

  • Assist with the supervision of students outside the classroom such as: field trips to assist with student supervision and safety, during play period, lunchroom activities, dismissal, etc.
  • Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.

School/Community Relations

  • Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information, documents, communications, incidents, etc., with discretion and in a conscientious manner.
  • Cooperate and share professionally with other members of the staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to work and interact with individual at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to consistently be at work, be on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Establish excellent interpersonal skills between all constituents: being courteous, professional, and helpful; Oral, Written, Interpersonal (active listening), Negotiating and Influencing.
  • Computer Basics -- Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Student Information System (SIS).
  • Good knowledge of company and school policies and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge of Federal, State, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law preferred.

Job Requirements

  • High School degree, GED, or equivalent experience.

  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Experience in working with children, preferably children with disabilities.
  • Be in the process of becoming professionally prepared to supervise young children.
