Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in the United States is seeking a skilled technician to install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered fire protection systems per NFPA and manufacturer specs. Travel to job sites as required and communicate system status to customers.

This role demands 3+ years in fire and life safety, NICET Level I+ preferred, and the ability to work independently in commercial, industrial, and construction environments. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
  • NICET Level I or above preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 17/17A/96 and manufacturer requirements.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver's license, if driving role.
  • Strong understanding of pre-engineered systems, practices and applicable codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specifications.
  • Replace/charge agents, service cylinders/cartridges, and verify detection and actuation.
  • Identify deficiencies and perform corrective actions; ensure AHJ compliance.
  • Read and apply manufacturer manuals and service bulletins.
  • Complete accurate inspection reports, deficiency lists, and close-out documentation.
  • Communicate system condition and recommendations to customers.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace; follow all safety procedures.
  • Respond to emergency service calls.
  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.
