Job summary

Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) in downtown Reno is seeking a Pre-Admit Technician (Medical Assistant) to support pre-admission for surgery. You will perform preadmission screening, vital signs, EKG, blood draws, and document medical history to ensure smooth patient flow.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, CMA/RMA/ABROE certification or two years in a back-office clinical setting, and HIPAA/OSHA knowledge. Prior EKG/blood draw experience is preferred; commitment to patient-first care and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CMA/RMA/ABROE certification or 2 years back-office clinical experience.
• Office Laboratory Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Prior experience with EKGs and blood draws preferred.
• Strong patient-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preadmission screening and vital signs; perform EKG and blood draw as needed.
• Obtain medical clearances from physician when required.
• Record medical history and other data in the EMR.
• Provide excellent patient care and answer questions from patients and families.
• Assist with pre-surgical assessments and complete related forms.
• Handle administrative tasks and data entry; maintain confidentiality.
• Complete continuing education as required and maintain attendance.
