Job summary

SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY seeks a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join the Upstate Pre-Admissions Testing Team. The APP will perform pre-anesthesia evaluations, history and physicals, and patient chart reviews to optimize patients prior to elective surgeries and procedures.

This is a full-time position at Upstate Health Care Center. The role operates in a Level I Trauma Center that delivers Critical Care to a 17+ county region with 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or PA required.
• Current NYS licensure/registration as NP or PA.
• National certification appropriate to practice.
• Ability to obtain NPI and Medicare enrollment within 6 months.
• CPR-BLS certification at appointment.
• Qualified to care for pediatric and adult patients.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

SUNY Upstate Medical Universityisseeking highly skilled and motivated Full-TimeAdvanced Practice Providerto join Upstate Pre-Admissions Testing Teamproviding pre-anesthesia evaluations, history and physicals, and completing patient chart reviews to optimize patients prior to undergoing elective surgeries or invasive procedures atUpstate's Health Care Center!

Position is based in aLevel I Trauma Centerthat providesCritical Careand services to patients across a 17+ County Region. Scheduling is determined based on operational needs.Upstate operates 24 hours aday/Seven days a week, providing continuous care to our region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing expert level clinical care and coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care.
• Assessing and evaluating patients, ordering appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies, arranging for referrals, testing, consultation and therapeutic services.
• Maintaining outstanding relationships with families, referring physicians and all members of the health care team.

As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program) or eligible by time of appointment.
• Current NYS Licensure or Registration as an NP or PA.
• Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
• Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire)
• CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
• Must be certified to take care of both Pediatric and Adult patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Anesthesia, Surgical, and/or Medicine (Hospitalist, Primary Care, Internal Medicine) APP experience preferred.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, Days with Holiday Rotation. Scheduling based on operational needs.
