Job summary

BH Management, LLC is seeking a dedicated Janitorial/Housekeeper in Downers Grove, IL to maintain the cleanliness of interior common areas and amenities. This full-time role supports daily property operations, collaborates with Maintenance and Community teams, and ensures spaces are welcoming for residents and guests.

The position requires physical tasks, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to work Monday–Friday with possible weekend rotation. A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, groundskeeping, or general maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of interior common areas (hallways, lobbies, elevators, restrooms, clubhouses, fitness centers).
• Clean and prepare model spaces and amenity areas for visits.
• Empty trash and recycling and dispose waste properly.
• Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and sanitize facilities per standards.
• Monitor exterior areas and maintain cleanliness of entrances and walkways.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for daily priorities and tasks.
• Report maintenance or appearance concerns to supervision.
• Assist with preparing spaces for resident events and activities.

This position plays a vital role in creating a positive first impression for residents, prospective residents, and visitors by ensuring all shared spaces are clean, organized, and welcoming. The Janitorial/Housekeeper works closely with the Maintenance and Community teams to support daily property operations and uphold company standards.**Essential Functions*** Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all interior common areas, including hallways, lobbies, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, clubhouses, fitness centers, laundry rooms, and leasing offices.* Clean and prepare model apartments and amenity spaces to ensure they are ready for resident and prospect visits.* Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.* Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, and sanitize community facilities according to established standards.* Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of exterior areas, including building entrances, walkways, breezeways, patios, parking areas, and amenity spaces.* Review daily work priorities with the Maintenance team and complete assigned tasks efficiently and independently.* Report maintenance, safety, housekeeping, or appearance concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Community Manager.* Assist with preparing common areas and amenities for resident events and community activities.* Maintain janitorial supplies, equipment, and storage areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.* Follow all company safety policies and procedures when handling cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.* Provide friendly, professional service when interacting with residents, guests, vendors, and team members.**Minimum Qualifications & Skills*** Previous janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, groundskeeping, or general maintenance experience preferred.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.* Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.* Positive, customer-service-oriented attitude.**Work Schedule:** Generally, will work a Monday-Friday schedule with rotating weekends; (hours may vary to meet the business needs of the property)**Physical Requirements/Environment:** The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.* Lifting at least 50 pounds.* Full range of motion with upper and lower body.
