Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in business, operations, management or related field.
  • 2-4 years in business/practice development is required.
  • 1-3 years in legal and client service role is a plus.
  • 1-3 years internal candidate experience as a Practice Development Coordinator or similar is required.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of assigned markets, target practice areas and panelist preferences.
  • Understanding of the legal industry including court processes and terminology.
  • 20% local, regional and national travel is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Build complex practices of Panelists through strategic development plans and document market plans.
  • Collaborate to develop and execute practice development strategy; conduct market and competitive research.
  • Liaise with law firms and corporations to promote JAMS; plan and host events to raise profile.
  • Create content with Panelists and Marketing Communications (articles, blogs, bios).
  • Prepare timely internal and external communications for regions and initiatives.
  • Ensure Panelists meet annual goals and adjust plans as needed.
  • Coordinate RFPs and present to prospective clients.
  • Monitor and control practice development budget for assigned markets.
  • Perform other duties within similar scope.

A Brief Overview

Acts to increase exposure and recognition for JAMS and its Panelists. Collaborates with Panelists, associates, and clients on the successful implementation of stated practice development objectives. Manages regional practice development and marketing initiatives. Drives outreach to existing and potential clients (e.g. law firms) and to other key stakeholders (e.g. corporations).

Responsibilities
What you will do
  • Builds complex practices of Panelists through practice development strategic plans and resulting activities. Maintains thorough documentation of market and neutral practice development plans; monitors results regularly to adapt plans to drive goals.
  • Partners with appropriate managers to develop and execute practice development strategy in JAMS markets, conducts market and competitive intelligence research, documents plans and activity, and monitors results.
  • Liaises with law firms and companies to promote JAMS; plans, produces, and moderates roundtables, legal educational programs, webinars, ADR education programs, and other events to raise the profile for JAMS and its Panelists.
  • Works with Panelists and Marketing Communications to create relevant content including article placement, blogs, social media postings, and updates to Panelist bios.
  • Ensures timely creation and distribution of internal and external communications related to assigned regions/neutrals/initiatives (Panelist updates, external newsletters).
  • Ensures that Panelists are meeting or exceeding annual practice goals and develops or revisits strategic plans when this is not the case.
  • Collaborates with appropriate constituents on requests for proposals and presents to prospective clients.
  • Monitors expenses to ensure that the practice development budget for assigned markets is not exceeded without prior agreement.
  • Other duties as assigned within similar scope .
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Management, or related field. Required
  • 2-4 years of working in business/practice development. Required
  • 1-3 years of working in legal and client service role. Plus
  • 1-3 years For internal candidates, proven ability as a Practice Development Coordinator or similar position. Required
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in job-related software programs. (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of the assigned markets, target practice areas, and the practice preferences of panelists. (Required proficiency)
  • Understanding of the legal industry including court processes and legal terminology. (Required proficiency)
  • 20% Occasional local, regional and national travel.
