Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Practice Builder to expand its Transportation Planning/Traffic practice in San Jose, CA. The role offers autonomy to grow the business, lead projects, and mentor staff while pursuing client opportunities with local agencies and private clients.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of transportation planning, traffic engineering and design experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Track record of winning and delivering work in the local area.
  • Established relationships with local DOT, agencies, and municipalities.
  • Ability to manage transportation projects profitably per agency specs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and technical skills.
  • Engaged with clients to solve project problems and communicate at all levels.

  • Deliver transportation planning, traffic engineering, roadway and ITS projects.

  • Manage projects profitably and transition work to qualified staff.

Overview

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Practice Builder to expand our Transportation Planning/Traffic practice in San Jose, California (CA)!

Responsibilities
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for growth in their personal practice while contributing to the growth of our transportation engineering practice in the local area and beyond
  • Assists in marketing and business development efforts with our existing local municipal, state, and private clients, while delivering a wide variety of transportation planning, traffic engineering, roadway, and/or ITS-related projects with our growing team of transportation professionals
  • Beyond serving our existing clients, has the ability to pursue own passions, leads, and clients
  • Leadership responsibilities include:

  • Providing vision, business planning and strategy
  • Establishing goals
  • Building and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Having open communication with your partners and team
  • Growing and leading a Transportation/Traffic practice
  • Our Practice Builders manage their projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor
  • The successful candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy to lead, direct, and grow their business

Base Salary Range:
  • $165,000 - $280,000
  • Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation
