Job summary

Francis Tuttle Technology Center seeks a Practical Nursing Substitute Instructor-Clinical to provide in-class, skills lab, and clinical instruction on an as-needed basis. You will teach theory and clinical competencies, ensure students meet program policies, and maintain professional standards.

Qualified candidates hold an Oklahoma RN license, have at least two years of clinical RN experience, and possess a BSN.

Qualifications

Job Title: Practical Nursing Substitute Instructor-Clinical

Department: Health Sciences Center

Reports Directly To: Instructional Director, Health Science

Position Closing Date: Open until filled

Hourly Wage: $40/hr

Primary Function of Position: Responsible for substitute teaching in the classroom, skills lab, and/or clinical areas of the nursing program on an as needed basis. Provides instruction to the students in both theoretical and clinical competencies. Ensures students are compliant with the program policies and professional standards.

Common Essential Job Functions:

Clinical Setting:

  • Provides supervision and instruction to students in the clinical settings.
  • Assigns students to patients/and or learning experiences based on objectives, student level of ability and identified learning needs.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory student management and instructional effectiveness in the clinical setting.
  • Observes and evaluates student's clinical performance as required by the clinical grading model.
  • Keeps accurate record of student attendance
  • General:
    • Performs teaching duties with personal accountability and responsibility.
    • Completes orientation to the policies and procedures of the nursing program, clinical coursework and the clinical affiliates.
    • Maintains professional accountability by being punctual according to the scheduled clinical hours at assigned clinical facilities; wearing approved attire and nametag in order to be identified as a Francis Tuttle adjunct instructor; and maintaining A.H.A. BLS-CPR Healthcare Provider certification, required immunizations, and health records.
    • Demonstrates the Francis Tuttle Technology Center's Core Values (Service, Trust, Aspiration, Respect, and Responsibility).
    • Communicates effectively with staff, students, industry partners, healthcare team, patients, and patient's family as applicable to the setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must hold a valid, unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Must present evidence of a minimum of two years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a teacher.
  • Must meet requirements set forth by the state and national approval/accreditation agencies.
  • A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office components (MS Word, PowerPoint).

Working Conditions:

Steady physical activity (standing, walking, bending) is required in the clinical setting. Strenuous physical activity is required intermittently when assisting in moving patients and/or equipment. Conditions are often less than optimum in the clinical facilities and are outside the employer's control. There is occasional to frequent exposure to communicable disease, blood and body fluids. Proper precautions relating to infection control and the use of personal protective equipment must be known and adhered to at all times.

Organizational Relationship:

Substitute non-certified, instructional personnel position in the Health Sciences department and works closely with the Practical Nursing Program Director.

Contract Details: Substitute is non-contract, not full-time permanent or regular part-time employment. Substitute is on an as needed basis.
