Job summary

FVI School of Nursing and Technology – Miami Campus seeks an experienced Nurse to start up and lead the Practical Nursing Program (LPN). The Program Director will ensure quality instruction, oversee faculty performance, and drive program outcomes including NCLEX pass rates and job placement.

The role requires Florida-licensed RNs, a BSN (master's preferred), and strong leadership with 3+ years of teaching and clinical nursing experience, plus nursing education administration experience.

Qualifications

  • Active and encumbered RN license to practice in Florida.
  • BSN required; master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Active BLS certification; American Heart Association.
  • Three (3) or more years of teaching experience are required.
  • Three (3) or more years of clinical nursing experience are required.
  • Experience in nursing education administration is required.
  • Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the quality and effectiveness of faculty-led instruction for the Practical Nursing Program.
  • Deliver high-quality education to nursing students at the assigned campus location.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching effectiveness through observations and performance reviews.
  • Manage daily operations of the practical nursing unit.
  • Address and resolve concerns from faculty and students promptly.
  • Track and review student progress with faculty and success coaches, providing support as needed.
  • Provide NCLEX exam preparation guidance and coaching for graduates.
  • Conduct faculty orientation and follow-up on performance.
  • Advise nursing students on academics, attendance, and behavior while ensuring compliance.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of clinical records, skills checklists, and evaluation tools.

The Practical Nursing Program Director will oversee and ensure the quality and effectiveness of faculty-led instruction while delivering high-quality education to nursing students at his/her assigned campus location. The role will primarily focus on practical nursing programs (LPN). The program director is also responsible for achieving program outcomes; course completion, program completion, NCLEX pass rate at first attempt, and job placement. The program director must have a passion for nursing education, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to student success.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts classroom learning activities and delivers classroom learning.
  • Monitors and evaluates to ensure quality education and faculty effectiveness through classroom observation and performance reviews.
  • Oversees the daily operations of practical nursing unit ensuring smooth functioning and adherence to standards.
  • Address and resolve concerns and issues raised by both faculty and practical students promptly and effectively.
  • Tracks and reviews the progress of practical nursing students with faculty and success coach by providing necessary support and interventions.
  • Delivers high-quality instruction to practical nursing students, ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Conducts follow-up of practical nursing graduates, providing guidance, and coaching for NCLEX exam preparation.
  • Provides guidance and coaching of practical nursing graduates when preparing for the NCLEX exam.
  • Conducts faculty orientation and follow-up on their performance through classroom observations.
  • Conducts practical nursing student advisement for academic, attendance, and/or behavioral issues and compliance.
  • Ensures that all clinical records, skills checklist, students' clinical evaluation tool, and other clinical assignments are completed and kept accordingly.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Active and encumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
  • BSN required and masters degree in nursing preferred.
  • Active BLS certification; American Heart Association.
  • Three (3) or more years of teaching experience required.
  • Three (3) or more years of clinical experience required.
  • Experience in nursing education administration.
  • Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS Office products as needed.
