The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking a practical nurse to perform various nursing duties within a correctional facility. Candidates must possess a practical nursing certificate and adhere to high ethical standards. This role supports veterans and is integral to the health services provided by MDOC.

This employee performs a full range of practical nurse assignments. The work requires considerable knowledge of proper methods and procedures for performing assignments, as well as basic nursing techniques. The employee works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse at all times.
This position is located 100% within the secure perimeter of a Correctional Facility.

Possession of a certificate from a practical nursing education program accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

The Department of Corrections may screen out applicants with a felony conviction as per Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants with misdemeanor or felony convictions are ineligible until they have satisfactorily completed any sentence, including parole or probation.

New hires and returning employees after more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET), which includes 40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their role, plus additional online training.
