US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service seeks qualified personnel for roles involving biosecurity and animal health program support. The incumbent will apply training theory to canine behavior, maintain detailed records, and perform animal husbandry tasks to meet operational goals.
Responsibilities include tracking program progress, providing technical assistance in operations, and coordinating with stakeholders to inform PPQ program activities.
The incumbent performs a specialized duty that provides a comprehensive approach to biosecurity, minimizing the risk of biological and economic damage caused by exotic, non-native plant and animal organisms to agriculture, natural resources and U.S. trade initiatives. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, entomology, animal sciences, environmental sciences, forestry, animal husbandry, canine sciences, veterinary sciences, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR Combination of education and experience: post high school education with courses equivalent to a major, which is defined as 24 semester/36 quarter hours, in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in the fields of biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, entomology, animal sciences, environmental sciences, forestry, animal husbandry, canine sciences, veterinary sciences, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-09 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, entomology, animal sciences, environmental sciences, forestry, animal husbandry, canine sciences, veterinary sciences, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
