Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Packaging Engineer for the DRY-EM organization based in Indianapolis, IN. You will ensure printed packaging materials meet Lilly standards and packaging line requirements, coordinating with CM partners and global packaging teams.

Key duties include managing layout templates, metadata, QFL, site technical changes, testing and qualifications at CM, and supporting continuous improvement projects including digital transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in printed packaging materials or pharmaceutical packaging.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Manage layouts: templates with graphic and technical elements for artworks development on packaging lines.
• Maintain BLUE metadata for layouts and link to PPM specifications in the system.
• Own the Qualified Format List (QFL) for artworks development with regional groups.
• Collaborate with Global Packaging during CM initiation so DRY-EM and global layouts are identified or developed.
• Participate in testing activities and qualifications at CM sites.
• Own Site Technical Changes (STCs) and coordinate PPM changes with CM, global packaging, regulatory groups, and DRY-EM.
• Work with Packaging Coordinator and Specification Coordinator for correct PPM development.
• Assist in specifications management and participate in the Specifications Change Review Board (sCRB).
• Provide a holistic view of all DRY-EM PPM projects; lead/support packaging investigations and continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

The Dry External Manufacturing (DRY-EM) organization works with contract manufacturers (CMs) to increase packaging capacity for Lilly products.

The Packaging Engineer role in the DRY-EM will be responsible of assuring that the printed packaging materials (PPMs) used by the CMs meet the technical requirements of the packaging lines and also Lilly Standards.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

• Management of layouts: templates with the graphic and technical elements to ensure proper artworks development and function on the packaging line.
• Maintenance of the BLUE metadata for the layouts and its connection with the rest of the components of the PPM specification (artworks and specifications) in the system.
• Owner of the Qualified Format List (QFL), key document for artworks development with regional groups.
• Work with Global Packaging during the first’s steps of a CM initiation to make sure that DRY-EM and/or Global layouts are identified or developed, so that artworks can be developed in a timely manner.
• Be involved in testing activities and qualifications at the CMs.
• Owner of the Site Technical Changes (STCs) requested by the CMs, coordinating the PPMs changes with the CM, global packaging and regulatory groups, PPD teams and DRY-EM.
• Work closely with the Packaging Coordinator and Specification Coordinator for the correct PPM development.
• Participate in the materials specifications management with the Specification Coordinator (back up for specifications activities).
• Member of the Specifications Change Review Board (sCRB), proposing changes to global layouts if needed.
• Have a holistic view of all PPM projects ongoing for the DRY-EM.
• Lead /support packaging investigations as need it withing the DRY-EM network ,
• Lead/ support packaging projects including but not limited to digital transformation as part of continues improvement.

• JPTs.
• Regulatory groups.
• EU-PPD team and US-PPD teams.
• Global Packaging group.
• QA groups.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field with experience in PPM management or other similar technical background.
• 2+ years of experience in printed packaging materials, or packaging in the pharmaceutical space

This role is located onsite in Indianapolis, IN and is not approved for fully remote work.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$65,250 - $145,200

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
