Job summary

Roush Yates Engines seeks an experienced Powertrain Development Engineer to drive motorsport engine development for NASCAR and sports car programs. You will define performance and durability targets, lead base engine design, and coordinate cross-functional teams across design, test, and simulation.

You will collaborate with Ford Racing to shape powertrain solutions, manage external supplier partnerships, and produce technical reports and milestones for leadership reviews.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engine research, design, or related product development experience.
  • Proven experience leading high-performance engine development programs.
  • Technical project management spanning goals, budgets, schedules, testing, and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Define engine specifications for performance and durability; steer development direction.
  • Oversee base engine and system components (block/head, valvetrain, cranktrain, cooling, lubrication, fuel, exhaust, induction).
  • Coordinate tasks with design, test, and simulation teams.
  • Collaborate with Ford Motor Company/Ford Racing on specified powertrains.
  • Work with suppliers in technical partnerships to develop new components.
  • Maintain program docs and analyze engine/vehicle data; author/approve reports.
  • Develop and present technical overviews to leadership at milestones.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Powertrain Development Engineer to conduct motorsport engine development for NASCAR and sports car programs. . This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced engineering, competition, and real-world performance.

What You'll Do
  • Responsible for engine specification definition wrt performance, durability, and setting the technical direction of the development of the programs.
  • Manage design and development of the base engine and engine system components (cylinder block/head, valvetrain, cranktrain, cooling, lubrication, fuel, exhaust, and induction).
  • Coordinate the program tasks with design, test, and simulation departments.
  • Collaborate with Ford Motor Company/Ford Racing to design and develop the specified program powertrains.
  • Work with internal and external suppliers in a technical partnership to develop new components.
  • Maintain program documentation, including reduction and analysis of engine/vehicle data, and author/approve technical reports
  • Develop and present technical overviews to leadership for program milestones and gateways.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of engine research, design, development, or related product development experience.
  • Proven experience leading high-performance engine development programs.
  • Technical project management experience spanning goals, budgets, schedules, testing, and implementation.
  • Strong technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and familiarity with engine assembly, component fabrication, and manufacturing.
  • For ITAR compliance, this position requires the individual to be a 'U.S. person' (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).
