Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s Product Development Center in Wisconsin is seeking a Design Engineer for Base Powertrain. This entry-level role collaborates with experienced engineers to translate requirements into robust designs and support production launches.

You will work on powertrain components like crankshafts, casings, cylinder heads, and gears while building foundational capabilities in design tools, problem solving, and production release processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems and powertrain operation.
• Basic familiarity with CAD tools such as Creo; Windchill or similar PDM systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support design and delivery of powertrain components and systems from concept through production launch under guidance.
• Develop knowledge of engineering calculations, CAD tools, drawings, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements and evaluate design options.
• Assist with engineering analysis, tolerance reviews, and documentation for design robustness.
• Support DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and related engineering deliverables.
• Review test data, summarize findings, and drive issue closure.
• Communicate project status and risks clearly to the team and leadership.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
