Job summary

Medxcel is seeking a Facilities role in Elk Grove Village, IL (Alexian Brothers Medical Center) for a 2nd shift, full-time opportunity. You will operate and maintain plant equipment, lead a small team, and ensure reliable power and systems across the facility.

The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. A High School diploma, relevant license, and trade school background with 5 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant license is required.
  • Graduate of trade school is required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Controls, starts, and shuts down primary and auxiliary power plant equipment using control boards and sequential switches.
  • Monitors meters, gauges, and computer systems to regulate power flow and detect issues.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to prevent system failure.
  • Documents plant operations with logs, forms, and reports; communicates outages as needed.
  • Leads daily work assignments, shift scheduling, and training for team members.
  • Serves as SME on cross-functional teams and assists with special projects.

The base hourly hiring range for this position is: $28.01-$31.64.

Responsibilities

How you'll make an impact in this role

  • Controls, starts, and shuts down primary and auxiliary power plant equipment—including boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, and compressors—using control boards and sequential switches.
  • Monitors meters, gauges, and computer systems at established intervals to regulate power flow, adjust water levels, and detect potential operating problems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs, such as cleaning, lubricating equipment, and tightening leaking joints, to prevent system failure or deterioration.
  • Documents plant operations by maintaining accurate logs, completing forms, writing equipment malfunction reports, and handling emergency outage communication.
  • Leads team operations by assigning daily work to maximize plant efficiency, assisting with shift scheduling, and training team members on equipment monitoring and maintenance.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-functional teams, participates in informational meetings and workshops, and assists with special projects as assigned.
